Kristin: I am an oldest daughter and a big sister. Two years ago, I became a wife, a daughter/sister-in-law, and an aunt all at once.

I am also a fourth year medical student and an aspiring pediatrician, currently interviewing at pediatric residency programs throughout the Midwest.

I am the kind of person who has always tried to plan their life carefully, and I tend to forget that some of the best things that have ever happened to me have been complete surprises. Over the past year, I have had to come to terms with the fact that my plan is not necessarily "the plan."

I'm trying to let go...
